First Impression:

For some reason… I believe this manga is fit as a slice of life. Seiten no Hekigan has a very interesting first chapter that made me continue reading it. As it says in the Summary the manga is follows this girl Natsuki. So far we know that Natsuki had a incident in the past that made her anti-social and depressed. We also know that she encounters an Alian and take her into her home as her sister. I just read chapter 8 and eagerly awaiting the next chapter. You won’t believe how good the story keeps getting. So check it out and tell me what you think.

Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

I’ve always been an Aladdin fan, so I was instantly attracted to this anime. I must say it exceeded my expectations. Basically Magi is inspired by Arabic literature characters, such as Alibaba, Sindibad, And so on. The fantasy there and the way the plot build up are amazing. There is magic everywhere and not in a cheesy matter. The plot is pretty outstanding, I’ve never seen a shounen anime as good as this one. I love how Aladdin is not always the hero or the main focus in the anime. You get to see all the characters stories. I also liked the fact that Sindibad is important in the anime so is morgana and Alibaba. The art and the fighting scenes are incredible. I strongly recommend the anime and am eagerly waiting for the second season which is gonna be released fall 2013.

Anime Review: Little Busters!

When tragedy struck Riki Naoe as a child, he was rescued from grief over his parent’s deaths when four other kids “recruited” him for their group—the “Little Busters.” Now in high school, Riki and the other Busters are still fast friends, and though their vision of being heroes for justice may have faded, they’d still do anything for each other. Which is why Riki is now on TWO special missions. The not so secret one: recruiting new members so the Busters can form a baseball team. Preferably FEMALE recruits, as the current dude/babe ratio is an inconvenient 4 to 1. The OTHER mission, though… That’s the strange one. Because Riki and Rin, the group’s singular girl, are receiving odd messages, delivered by cats, concerning the existence of a “secret world” and assigning them tasks they have to complete. Were their youthful dreams of being crusaders not so fanciful after all? Or is there something even more vital at stake? Between steeling his courage to talk to girls, dealing with his own narcolepsy and facing his feelings concerning Rin, Riki may just need the strength of a superhero to solve the ultimate mystery of the Little Busters! Little busters! is an anime about friendship. It kinda reminded me of Clannad, even though Clannad was more focused on the love story. The anime is PG-13 so it’s delightful to watch with the whole family. At first, the anime is gonna appear to be like a normal school anime, when it’s actually fantasy… So keep that in mind. I love the character design. Though the animation was alright. There is another season coming out soon, which will probably explain the fantasy part of the anime better. It was a bit vague in this season. I totally recommend the anime it’s a wonderful story, very enjoyable, and also funny.

Manga Review: Black★Rock Shooter – Innocent Soul -

The story follows a girl in the “Threshold” (狭間, Hazama), a world beween Heaven and Earth. “Impure souls”—those that could not ascend to Heaven with the burden of their own weight—have drifted to this world of constant warfare. (Source: ANN)

Fan Review:I’m a huge BRS fan. After watching the anime and ova, I’ve read this BRS manga. I have to say its very different from the ova and anime. The manga has nothing to do with the real world unlike the anime and ova. What makes the manga special is that it only takes place in Hazam. That fact makes the manga so special because in the anime and the ova you only see a fraction of Hazam. You only see the action that took place there, Though in the manga they elaborate more about Hazam. The manga is more like an alternative version of the anime. It’s amazing, you’ll totally love every page of it.

First time reader Review: it’s an incredible story about a world that lies between heaven and earth. The manga include various dramatic stories about different lost souls that ended up in Hazam (the world between heaven and earth). The manga also include some awesome action. There is a surprising twist in the story, and interesting bonds of friendship. You’ll totally get hooked and won’t regret reading the manga. It’s beautiful.

Most Notable Spring 2013 anime

These aren’t all the spring 2013 anime, though I believe those are worth watching. I have to say that I’m glad that there are many mecha and fantasy anime this season. I’ll write down reasons why you should watch them so if your interested read the whole post.

PS. The anime are classified in alphabetical order

Aku no Hana

Genres: Drama, Romance, School, Psychological
Rating: R – 17+ (violence & profanity)

The anime is based on a popular manga with the same title. I read like the first chapter of the manga, I liked the art it is good. Though the anime has different kinda art, it’s kinda difficult to swallow at first but you’ll get used to it.

Arata Kangatari

Genres: Adventure, Fantasy, Shounen
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

There wasn’t anything particularly unique about this anime, though it has some good action and its a good watch.

Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge

Genres: Action, Fantasy, Romance, Seinen
Rating: R – 17+ (violence & profanity)

I really liked this anime, the story it pretty weird and the main character is a weirdo. So, basically that was the reason I liked it. The anime is based on a manga with the same title, that is worth checking out.

Date A Live

Genres: Comedy, Mecha, Romance, School, Sci-Fi, Shounen
Rating: R – 17+ (violence & profanity)

As I was watching the first episode I changed my mind about the anime like 3 times. I just must say that it’s awesome. You’ll be surprised, entertained, and wouldn’t want the episode to end.

Devil’s Survivor 2

Must Watch

Genres: Demons, Supernatural
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

Devil’s survivor is part of the Shin Megami Tensei series. The anime doesn’t have a prequel. It’s a stand alone anime titled Devil’s Survivor 2. The art of the anime is pretty awesome and I have high hopes for the story. It’s a must watch.

Ginga Kikoutai Majestic Prince

Genres: Action, Mecha, School, Sci-Fi, Seinen
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

This anime is story is a bit unusual for a Mecha. It’s about the worst team of robot pilots there is. It’s really interesting to watch.

Haiyore! Nyaruko-san W

Genres: Comedy, Parody, Sci-Fi
Rating: R – 17+ (violence & profanity)

This is the sequel of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, it’s a funny anime. Very entertaining to watch.

Hataraku Maou-sama!

Genres: Comedy, Demons, Fantasy, Romance, Shounen
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

This anime reminded me of Maoyuu Maou Yuusha the way it basically began from where stories usually end, and it’s about a demon king that is good. It’s insanely funny.

Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko.

Genres: Comedy, Romance, School, Seinen
Rating: None – I’ll rate it as PG 13 since its less Ecchi than the manga buts it’s probably R.

From the title of the anime you can tell its pretty Ecchi, though leaving that fact aside it’s a pretty funny anime.

Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Bride

Genres: Action, Comedy, Ecchi, Romance, School
Rating: R+ – Mild Nudity

It’s the sequel of Hyakka Ryouran: Samurai Girls. It’s a nice combination of action and comedy.

Kakumeiki Valvrave

Must Watch

Genres: Action, Mecha
Rating: R – 17+ (violence & profanity)

The ending of the first episode was so shocking I don’t know what to expect next. Must watch.

Genres: Action, Mystery, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Shoujo
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

The anime title and posters are so deceiving… I though it would be a reverse harem kinda anime. Though it turned that it has awesome action, and fantasy. Not to mention that the art was incredible.

Genres: Martial Arts, Shounen
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

It’s nice to see a Martial Arts/Supernatural anime for a change. There weren’t any anime like this for a while.

Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai.

Genres: Comedy, Slice of Life, Seinen
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

So Kirino is back!! Need I say more?

Genres: Ecchi, Romance, School
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

This anime is a bit weird, I believe it’s based on a video game. The main character gets dragged into joining an Ecchi photography club.

RDG: Red Data Girl

Genres: Fantasy
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

I like the art of this anime and I love it’s fantasy. It’s promising.

Shingeki no Kyojin

Must Watch

Genres: Action, Drama, Fantasy, Super Power
Rating: R – 17+ (violence & profanity)

Love the violence in this anime. the story is promising. Love the art and the idea of the anime. Absolutely amazing. Must watch.

Suisei no Gargantia

Must Watch

Genres: Sci-Fi
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

This anime is so interesting. I totally recommend you to at least check it out.

Toaru Kagaku no Railgun S

Must Watch

Genres: Action, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Super Power
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

This anime is the sequel of Toaru Kagaku no Railgun and it’s part of the Toaru Majutsu no Index series. I loved the first season of this anime so I’ve been looking forward to this one. I must say that this one seems… I mean has more action which is awesome.

Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Come wa Machigatteiru.

Genres: Comedy, Romance, School
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

This anime reminded me of Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru but like a better version. I very much enjoyed the first episode and totally love the art.

Zettai Bouei Leviathan

Genres: Fantasy
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

Since the first episode was surprisingly good, I’ve decide it to add it to the list. It’s delightful to watch.

Anime Review: Amnesia

This story takes place in a fictional town, in a fictional country, in a fictional world. One morning, a young lady awakens to find that she has lost all her memories prior to that morning. Her life, her relationships, her very name—all gone. All that’s left is a cell phone with numbers and names she doesn’t recognize and Orion, a young boy that only she appears to be able to see. With Orion’s guidance, she struggles to make sense of herself, a boyfriend she doesn’t know and the thousand and one little things that make up a daily life. But with no memories left, the only alternative is to forge new ones, even if that means leaving old loves behind. (Source: Sentai Filmworks)

General Information:

Episodes: 12
Status: Finished Airing

Producers: Brains Base, Sentai Filmworks
Genres: Fantasy, Romance, Shoujo, Drama, Mystery
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

Amnesia was more interesting than I thought. I’m not a fan of Bishounen(male harem), so I thought it would be a silly shoujo. Though yeah it’s actually interesting, the idea of the story how she travels between parallel worlds to find out about her past and figure out why she lost her memory. There were a lot of things about the plot I didn’t expect nor seen coming, so the plot is actually good. Though I didn’t like the main character much, or rather I didn’t like the way she react towards things. Oh, and Orion was the cutest thing about that anime!! To sum up, I wouldn’t watch that anime again, but I believe watching it was a delightful experience. Also, I’m still not a fan of Bishounen, but if you are go watch it. It’s different in a good way.

Movie Review: Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki

The theme of the film is the love between parents and children. The story covers 13 years and begins with a 19-year-old college student named Hana who encounters and falls in “fairy tale-like” love with a “wolf man.” After marrying the wolf man, Hana gives birth and raises two wolf children—an older sister named Yuki who was born on a snowy day, and a younger brother named Ame who was born on a rainy day. The four quietly lived in a corner of a city to conceal the existence of the “wolf children,” but when the wolf man suddenly dies, Hana decides to move to a rural town far removed from the city.

General Information:

Directed by: Mamoru Hosoda
Screenplay by: Mamoru Hosoda, Satoko Okudera
Story by: Mamoru Hosoda
Studio: Studio Chizu, Madhouse
Release Date: Jun 21, 2012
Country: Japan
Genres: Fantasy, Slice of Life
Duration: 1 hr. 57 min.
Rating: G – All Ages

Ookami Kodomo has a heartwarming story. As you can see from the genre it’s Slice of Life, which means that the movie is about life. I love how the story built up. I was told that the movie was dull, but it was exciting. There wasn’t much action there, yet it’s very interesting. I love the animation. The movie is directed by Mamoru Hosoda, who’ve directed the amazing movie Summer wars. If you’ve watched Summer wars, you’ll know how awesome his directing is! Therefore, I strongly recommend this movie. It’s a family movie, with a great story that’s filled with life lessons.

Movie Review: Fairy Tail: Houou no Miko

The film revolves around a mysterious girl named Éclair who appears before Fairy Tail, the world’s most notorious wizard’s guild. She lost all of her memories, except for the imperative that she must deliver two Phoenix Stones somewhere. The stones may spell the collapse of the magical world, and Natsu, Lucy, and the rest of the Fairy Tail guild are caught up in the intrigue. (Source: ANN)

General Information:

Alternative Title: Fairy Tail: Priestess of the Phoenix
Director: Masaya Fujimori
Script: Masashi Sogo
Studio: A-1 Pictures
Distribution: Shochiku Co., Ltd.
Release Date: Aug 18, 2012
Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Magic, Shounen
Duration: 1 hr. 26 min.
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

I’m sure most of you knows Fairy Tail from either the manga or anime. However, some of you might not be familiar with Fairy tail. So, I’ll try to write two reviews for people that doesn’t know Fairy tail. I’m a Fairy tail fan this is why I had to watch the movie.

First Time Viewer Review:

The movie is about magicians that encounter a girl and try to help her remember who she is and help save the world. The story is heartwarming and funny at the same time. I didn’t anticipate such ending, it was interesting. There were some things there that you would never expect, totally ironic. The action is amazing, the characters are pretty strong. It’s totally shounen and a nice movie to watch.

Fan Review:

As I mentioned earlier, I’m a Fairy Tail fan so I had to watch the movie. I didn’t expect much from the movie but what am I about to write is a Spoiler so if your not up to date with the manga or anime stop reading. ;p
Apparently the movie takes place after the episode where Lucy finds out that her father died. If you’ve read the manga or seen the anime you’ll know that at that time fairy tail members were weak and they’d lost their original guild place. While in this movie they were in their original guild place and they were pretty strong… Which puzzled me. So for me the movie was just all over the place. On a different note Master Makarov keeps saying the “strongest members” and these members come up Natsu, Erza, Juvia, Wendy, Gray, and Lucy. As you can see there is only one S class magi in the mix… How is that the “Strongest Fairy Tail team”. Anyways, the movie was funny. The action was just the right amount and there was too much drama. I didn’t anticipate such ending nonetheless it was a nice movie to watch.

Anime Review: Kamisama Hajimemashite

Nanami Momozono is alone and homeless after her dad skips town to evade his gambling debts and the debt collectors kick her out of her apartment. So when a man she’s just saved from a dog offers her his home, she jumps at the opportunity. But it turns out that his place is a shrine, and Nanami has unwittingly taken over his job as a local deity!
Nanami has all kinda of new responsibilities she doesn’t understand, dangers she’s unaware of, and a cranky ex-familiar who’s… actually pretty hot. What’s a new-fledged godling to do? (Source: Viz Media)

General Information:

Alternative Title: Kamisama Kiss
Type: TV
Episodes: 13
Status: Finished Airing
Aired: Oct 2, 2012 to Dec 25, 2012
Producers: TV Tokyo, Dentsu, TMS Entertainment, FUNimation Entertainment, Pony Canyon
Genres: Comedy, Demons, Fantasy, Shoujo, Supernatural
Rating: PG-13 – Teens 13 or older

Kamisama Hajimemashite is a nice shoujo anime. There is some action there that I enjoyed and the plot was good. Though the anime is too pg-13 and almost a typical shoujo. I like the way the main character “Nanami” thinks sometimes it surprises me. I didn’t like how fragile Tomoe turned out to be though its very sweet how he takes care of Nanami. If you liked fruit basket I’m sure you’ll like this anime as well.
