Movie Review: Annabelle the Conjuring

John Form has found the perfect gift for his expectant wife, Mia – a beautiful, rare vintage doll in a pure white wedding dress. But Mia’s delight with Annabelle doesn’t last long. On one horrific night, their home is invaded by members of a satanic cult, who violently attack the couple. Spilled blood and terror are not all they leave behind. The cultists have conjured an entity so malevolent that nothing they did will compare to the sinister conduit to the damned that is now… Annabelle. (Written by IMDB)

General Information:

Cast: Annabelle Wallis, Ward Horton
Director: John R. Leonetti
Written by: Gary Dauberman
Genre: Horror
Run time: 98 minutes
Release date: October 3, 2014

The other day I went to Grand Cinemas in Kuwait to watch Annabelle. It was my first time to Grand Cinemas I must say the movie theater was nice… but that’s about it. The movie started around 2:15 pm and ended at 3:30 pm if I remember correctly. What I’m trying to say is that more than half of the movie was censored. The censorship was extreme and unnecessary, I mean she was walking down the street then cut. She in front of her building then cut. She in the apartment cut. She hears a voice cut. Someone flies off cut. She is crying cut. Credits…

That was pretty much the whole movie its supposed to be an hours and a half but they only shown around 35-45 min of the movie. Its so not wroth watching the Cinema if you’re in Kuwait… I suggest you wait for the DVD release. I can’t rate the movie because I hardly watched anything from it and it would be unfair to the Director if I gave it a rate now. So that’s that.

Manga Review: Gantz – Manga Olympics for Bloggers (Seinen/Shounen Round 2)

Thought your life was bad? Sometimes, death is worse. There is no salvation, peace, nor god waiting to receive you into their care. But wait, a god? Maybe you are talking about that big black ball stuck in the room with you. Now you are thrown into a game, fighting green aliens and robot monsters for the chance to survive.
When Kei Kurono is killed, he thus finds himself caught in such a game; a test of his skills, morals and will to survive. His life is not his own, his death spat and trampled upon over and over again. What happens if he does not listen? God knows.
A word of warning: Gantz is not for the faint-hearted, but neither is it as simple as it looks. Gore, rape and violence is rampant, as are portrayals of greed, violence, and all the ugliness that one sees in society today. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

General Information:

Type: Manga
Volumes: 37
Chapters: 383
Status: Finished
Published: Jul 13, 2000 to Jun 20, 2013
Genres: Action, Drama, Ecchi, Horror, Sci-Fi, Supernatural, Psychological, Seinen
Authors: Oku, Hiroya (Story & Art)
Serialization: Young Jump

Firs of all thank you Sir Hiroya Oku for 13 amazing years of Gantz. I still can’t believe it ended… I kept looking for one more page after the last page of the last chapter. So yeah, I’m a huge Gantz fan. It’s an amazing manga if you haven’t checked it out, you should.

Now for the actual review. Gantz concept is totally unique. The manga Follows Kei Kurono & Masaru Katou, they are basically the main characters. Due to the concept of the story a lot of characters appear in the manga. The manga is amazing. I loved the story up until the Osaka Arc. It was magical. Though the last arc which is the catastrophe arc, was totally weird. The manga does develop greatly to reach that arc, but the fights weren’t as good as the previous arcs.
The action is absolutely brutal through out the whole manga, I’m not saying that the last arc was bad. It was just a little disappointing for me. Also, I’ve noticed that the whole focus was back to Kurono. I know that Nishi and Sakurai were also main topics in that arc, though it always fell back to Kurono. To be completely honest here, I was disappointed and didn’t like that fact. One more thing I didn’t like in the manga was the fact that we didn’t see most of the characters in action. Specially Reika, did she ever fight?
Supposedly she got 100 point and fought bravely against so many tough Aliens. Though we didn’t see any of that, did we? It was always Kurono this, Kurono that, and her looking pretty in the background of the page… I mean seriously? Well, even with all that its still my favorite manga and it’s the best and brutalist manga out there. Also the story is amazing. I like the idea of Gantz. Is it recommended? Yes of course.

Rating: R+ – Mild Nudity

I know that this is an old anime, but I just watched it last month. I read part of its manga as well. The anime is different from the manga, it’s like an alternative version. I really liked that fact, for so many reasons that I won’t mention. :p
I have to warn you first, that there is nudity in the anime and mature content “story wise”. So, at first the main character seems strong, yet the human side of her seems fragile. The art of the anime was great. Also, the main character’s beauty showed, and a lot of girls fell for her. Which is basically why its themed yuri. There was a lot of action and bloodshed in the anime. Oh, and the opening theme song of song of the anime was amazing I could listen to that song all day!! There was something I didn’t quite understand in the anime… Jun “the main character” seemed to walk around and kiss guys for no reason… I mean a guy appears out of nowhere she would share a kiss with him, and then you never see that guy again… What’s up with that?! Other than that the story was solid. So, good story, good sound track, good art, and it’s a very good anime.

First thing first this movie is Blood-C sequel so I recommend you watch the anime before the movie. With that been said, I shall start the review. I don’t know what is it with the Blood franchise and trains, I guess it’s their trademark or something. I didn’t expect much from the movie though I was surprised by how well it’s made and how interesting the story was. Even though there were parts about the movie that felt like deja vu, it was still pretty amazing. I love the change that happened in Saya’s character. Saya was so badass and more skilled in this movie than any other blood series/movie. The action was absolutely amazing. I can’t believe I’m saying this but it was even better than blood+ bloodshed. If you like action bloody movies, you’ll love this one.

Manga Review: Hohzuki Island

It’s about two children being sent to live on a basically deserted island. Deserted except for a few other kids and teachers. Suzuhara Kokoro and his blind little sister Yume find that all is not as it seems as they learn more from the other kids and see the actions of their teachers. (Source:

Serialization: Young Gangan

Hohzuki Island manga reminded me of another. The manga talks about a mystery in a school and all. I know the genre says horror, but its actually a mystery, thriller kind of manga… Its pretty interesting to read yet so predictable. I liked the way how each character’s past unravel. That was the most interesting part of the story. I liked the ending too it was nice.
